Giving Hope NOW is our Priority

Now more than ever, they need critical, affordable mental health services. It’s imperative that Daemion Counseling Center continue this support. At the same time, like most nonprofits, we have canceled or postponed our fundraising and need immediate donations to help us continue to operate and serve those in need.

That’s why we’re asking you to participate in #GivingTuesdayNow and make a donation to our Giving Tuesday Now GoFundMe campaign. #GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. It’s in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday. Giving Tuesday Now is already open for donations. No need to wait until May 5th.

How we’re responding to the COVID-19 crisis

Pivoted to virtual counseling. As a small but mighty nonprofit committed to quality, affordable mental health counseling, Daemion Counseling Center pivoted quickly to continue virtual counseling to clients while keeping our staff and our community safe.

To prepare and equip our therapists and staff to work remotely wasn’t easy but we rose to the challenge and continue to serve clients using Zoom, Skype, and telephone consultations.

Offered virtual counseling to local first responders at no charge. On the COVID-19 frontline, local fire and EMS personnel may experience emotional, behavioral, psychological and relational responses unique to their role as first responders, and these can have residual effects on their mental health, families and relationships, and on daily functioning. Daemion offered professional mental health counseling at no charge to this local group, starting April 20, 2020. If interested in our service for first responders, please contact our President, Marti Magee, at [email protected].

Accepting new virtual clients. We are here to serve. Our therapists are available for “in-person” counseling via videoconferencing. Evening appointments are available. Our staff is available (via phone at 610-647-1431, or email [email protected] from 9:00-5:00 ET Monday-Friday) to answer general information questions and schedule appointments. Most insurances accepted and a sliding fee scale is available.

Every donation counts

Every dollar counts. A contribution of $50 - $100 helps us cover the cost of one hour of counseling – and that can help someone turn the corner toward hope. We are grateful for those that are able to prioritize giving to an important cause, given the demands of everyday living. Here are a couple of considerations that might affect your choice.

Stimulus funds. If you received a federal COVID 19 stimulus check, and do not need all or a portion of the money, please consider donating to Daemion to help us continue to provide affordable counseling. Note: Please put your health and safety first and if you need to spend these dollars on health care and mental health care, please do so!

CARES Act $300 tax credit. The CARES Act adds a deduction to the calculation of gross income for tax years beginning in 2020 for the amount (not to exceed $300) of qualified charitable contributions (QCCs) made by an eligible individual, i.e., someone not taking itemized deductions, during the tax year.
